Overview

Situated in the heart of Paris at 23 Rue du Roule, L'Express Bar captures the very essence of a classic French bistro with a modern, unpretentious spirit. This charming restaurant invites both locals and travelers seeking authentic, well-crafted French cuisine paired with an inviting, cozy atmosphere.

The menu at L'Express Bar highlights some traditional French staples, prominently featuring dishes like the Tartare de Boeuf Préparé, Bavette d'Aloyau Grillée, and Magret de Canard Grillé. These plates showcase precise culinary techniques and fresh, quality ingredients that resonate with the rich heritage of the region. Equally impressive is their Planche de Charcuterie and the house-made Pâté Basque, which provide perfect starters or shared bites, emphasizing the convivial dining experience typical of Parisian bistros.

Not to be overlooked, the daily specials—such as Entrecôte Grillée and Rôti de Porc Andalou—offer excellent value without compromising flavor, making L'Express Bar a reliable choice for both a leisurely lunch and an intimate dinner. Delicate desserts like their classic Tiramisu round off the meal gracefully, while a selection of carefully chosen wines and local beers, including Grimbergen Pression, complement the meal perfectly.

Visitors often praise the authenticity of the space, describing it as warm, bustling, and welcoming. It strikes a perfect balance between lively and relaxed, making it suitable for a wide audience—from those looking to savor a solo breakfast to groups gathering for a casual meal. The attentive yet unintrusive service further enhances the experience, reinforcing the genuine comfort of this neighborhood gem.

Customer feedback consistently highlights the superb quality of food and the strong value, especially considering the prime central Paris location. Many remark on an eagerness to return frequently, a testament to the consistent satisfaction this establishment delivers without the pretense often found in tourist-heavy areas.

For anyone craving a true taste of Parisian bistro fare—be it the textured richness of a charcoal-grilled bavette or the delicate flakiness of buttered pastries at breakfast—L'Express Bar stands out as a welcoming and authentic choice. With its blend of tradition, quality, and an inviting atmosphere, it is a must-visit for those who appreciate honest French cuisine served with warmth and flair.

Unpretentious classic French bistro with great food (& at a great price)! The food was delicious, atmosphere felt authentic & cosy, and the staff were kind (despite being busy!)! The value for what you get, and considering the area, was from what I saw incomparable! A must visit :)

Great local spot to enjoy the locals and have a beer or wine. Their Plat du jour is also pretty decent!

A delightful little breakfast spot that is not - I repeat NOT - a tourist trap! I had the 13,90€ set which came with the most delectable real-butter pain au chocolat and the softest smoked salmon omelette. Even the cafe au lait was unreal! Absolutely delightful (with a view of my very favourite fruit shop in all of Paris!) Thank you very much, L’Express!

We had a great time at this place. Authentic and easy going little French bistro. Bartenders were kind and the service works fast, love the overall vibe. The steak tartare Parisien was the real deal and we got a little Pastis for free at the end. Enjoyed our time here we will come back for sure.

Typical Parisian bistrot, the only original one left in Les Halles area. Excellent choice of meals and price/quality. Full menu for 20 euro. Instead of current underground shopping centre there used to be a market, and L'express Bar originates from that time. Owed and managed by people from Basque country.
